We started a new event series for the Delaware Valley Stroke Council: Stretch for Stroke. This weekly yoga event, held outdoors at the corner of 20th Street and Benjamin Franklin Pkwy, helps raise awareness for stroke. Did you know those with high levels of stress and anxiety are at a greater risk for stroke? Come out Wednesday night at 6 p.m. to join us and relax! Afterwards, we’ll head to Public House for a special happy hour with free drinks and discounted menu items.

Upcoming Events:

For the third year in a row, Jenna Communications is hard at work planning the Delaware Valley Stroke Council’s 20th annual Strides for Stroke 5k on Sunday, June 8. We’re working to make this the biggest Strides for Stroke yet, and have many exciting events planned leading up to race day. Stay tuned for announcements for pre-race parties the week of June 2 by connecting with the Delaware Valley Stroke Council on Facebook and Twitter. Watch this segment of All Hart with Lauren Hart on WMCN-44 to see Toby Mazer, founder of the Delaware Valley Stroke Council, promoting Strides for Stroke, and listen to the KYW Morning Drive tomorrow, where Toby will be featured on Brad Segall’s Suburban Bureau segment.

Volunteers also are still needed for Strides for Stroke to help with logistics, fundraising, donation requests, stuffing goodie bags, registration and refreshments. We are looking for local businesses to serve as sponsors for the race, as well as to donate food items for the runners, and to encourage their employees to run! If you’d like to volunteer or sponsor this event, contact Jen at To sign up for the race or for more information visit Don’t forget stroke is the number one cause of adult disability as well as the fourth leading cause of death. By participating, you can help the Delaware Valley Stroke Council continue its stroke prevention efforts.

Agency & Client Updates:

Since opening in March, Doctors Express Narberth has seen a sharp increase in patients coming through its doors. The urgent care center’s convenient location at 934 Montgomery Ave. has helped it gain visibility in the Narberth community, as well as the fact that wait times average 20 minutes and no appointments are needed. Doctors on staff deliver a high level of quality care, as seen in one of the center’s very first patient testimonials.

The long stretch of nice weather we’ve been having has allowed construction to get well underway for Lifestyle Healthcare Group’s comprehensive medical care center. When the facility is completed in late 2015 or early 2016, it will consist of nearly 200,000 sq. ft. of space and house dozens of medical specialists, an outpatient surgical center and a rehab/fitness complex. See this story from the Bucks County Courier Times, and stay tuned for more developments on the progress of the center.

In addition to TIC returning, No Dog Gets Left Behind raised $1,500 at the South 9th Street Italian Market Festival to put towards another homecoming.
