New Additions

Please give a warm welcome to our new public relations interns Ashley Kramer and Georgia Papaloukas!

Ashley is a senior at Temple University studying Strategic Communications with a concentration in public relations and a minor in Sociology.  She enjoys hitting the nightlife scene in Philadelphia and relaxing at home with her friends.

Georgia Papaloukas is a sophomore at Temple University also majoring in Strategic Communications with a focus in public relations and a minor in General Business studies. She is on the executive board of the Communications Studies Club and she likes to go shopping and enjoying everything Philadelphia has to offer.

New Openings and Renovations

Golden Corral opened a new restaurant in place of Chi Chi’s Mexican Restaurant at Lehigh Valley Mall on January 10. This new addition joins other restaurants including Bonefish Grill, Bravo! Cucina Italiana, and Red Lobster. Check out coverage of the opening HERE in The Morning Call.

Quaker Bridge Mall welcomed Brighton Collectibles as the latest store to open on January 12. During this grand opening, a special ribbon cutting ceremony was held which was attended by Lawrenceville mayor Jim Kownacki. Brighton Collectibles prides itself as a heritage brand that offers a range of accessories including handbags, jewelry and charms in over 160 stores across the United States.

Children and their families will enjoy the new Kidgits Play Area at Quaker Bridge Mall which features five state-of-the-art play fixtures along with interactive elements such as an electric piano. This area also has stroller parking, shoe cubbies and cushioned seating. Along with the Kidgits play area there is a new eco friendly restroom located by the food court that recently opened.

Quaker Bridge Mall is excited to be opening four new stores by summer 2013, which include Bachrach, Bebe, Lush Cosmetics and Vans. Bachrach is a designer men’s shop that offers handsome, innovative styles while continuing to deliver a spirit of energetic service to customers. Bebe offers chic, contemporary fashion designed for the confident, sexy and modern woman. Lush Cosmetics offers a full line of fresh, handmade cosmetics while maintaining high ethical standards and using ingredients that are not tested on animals. Event Recap

Eagles Legend Brian Dawkins appeared at The Sports Cave to sign autographs on Friday, January 18. It was a total sell-out with nearly 200 people waiting to get prints, jerseys, footballs and many other pieces of Eagles memorabilia signed. Click HERE to see footage of the signing from 6abc.

On Saturday January 19, The Hair O’ The Dog celebrated 19 years at the Loews Hotel. This year’s party was hosted by Marisa Magnatta of 93.3 WMMR’s Preston and Steve Show, and a share of the proceeds went to the Friends Are By your Side charity. Created by famed hairstylist Martino Cartier, Friends Are By Your Side provides wigs and salon service to women battling cancer and donates hair replacements and other services during cancer treatments. This year’s Queen O’ The Dog, Philadelphia native Ashley Smyk, was recognized for her fight against cancer. The modern Disco theme brought out nearly 2,000 people. Upcoming Events

The 8th annual Middletown Township Teen Talent Show takes place at Oxford Valley Mall on Saturday, January 26 from 4 to 6 p.m. The show features 14 performers from the tri-state area that will perform a variety of acts in front of a panel of judges. First place winners receive a trophy and a $50 gift certificate to Oxford Valley Mall while all other contestants received a $25 gift certificate.

Grand View Hospital is welcoming the public to ‘Heart Health Day’ at Montgomery Mall on Saturday, February 2. This event is free and includes some of the area’s top cardiologists including Michelle Stram, MD and J. Todd Alderfer, MD to talk about heart health. Also available will be free heart screenings, blood pressure checks, cholesterol readings, and heart risk assessments handled by registered nurses.

Doctors Express South Philly saw nearly 400 patients in the first month of being open. 6abc recently caught up with Doctors Express to interview the center about the ongoing flu epidemic that is hitting particularly hard in Philadelphia as well as nationwide.
