Event Recap:

17th Annual Stars for Stroke: The Delaware Valley Stroke Council celebrated its 17th Annual Stars for Stroke Gala on Saturday, November 17. The event was held in the Grand Ballroom of the Hyatt at the Bellevue. More than 300 guests attended the event, and all funds raised are used to sustain area stroke awareness programs. Honorees at this years’ gala included past president and CEO of Thomas Jefferson University Hospitals, Thomas Lewis, attorney Joseph Field and his wife Marie, and plastic surgeon R. Jason Avant and Mychal Kendricks Autograph Signing: The Sports Cave hosted its latest autograph signing at Timothy’s West Chester yesterday. Veteran Eagles wide receiver Jason Avant and rookie linebacker Mychal Kendricks signed all sorts of memorabilia for Eagles fans. Part of the event’s proceeds benefitted the West Chester University Foundation.

America Recycles Day: Montgomery Mall hosted an electronics recycling event on Thursday, November 15 as part of America Recycles Day. Local residents dropped off old computers, televisions, cell phones and more and filled several trailers with the equipment. Learn more about it HERE from PhillyBurbs.com.

Santa’s Arrival: Earlier this month, Santa arrived at Montgomery Mall, Oxford Valley Mall, Lehigh Valley Mall and Quaker Bridge Mall. To mark the occasion, malls held special events such as parades and a breakfast. Stop by to see Santa to help ring in the holiday season.

Doctors Express Grand Opening: Doctors Express, the first walk-in medical care center to come to the City of Philadelphia, will hold an open house on Saturday, December 1. Members of the community are invited to come out and meet Doctors Express staff members and learn more about services the center offers. Those in attendance will have an opportunity to enter to win an iPad2 and local football legend Vince Papale will be on hand to greet guests. Savor for Sandy: The devastation of Hurricane Sandy was felt by millions up and down the East Coast. Now, more than ever, hurricane victims need help recovering from the disaster. Jenna Communications is partnering with Table 31, The Star Group and Caesar’s Entertainment to plan Savor for Sandy, a special dinner to help those affected by the storm on Sunday December 16 from 6 to 11 p.m. One hundred percent of the proceeds will be sent to the American Red Cross to help Caesar’s Entertainment members in need.

Malls Gear Up for Busy Black Friday

All four of our Simon Malls will be opening at midnight on Black Friday to help shoppers get an early start on their holiday. Learn about exciting promotions each individual mall is offering:

At Lehigh Valley Mall early-bird shoppers will be treated to a Black Friday survival guide beginning at 11 p.m. Thanksgiving night. The guide contains a number of special goodies including a voucher to enter to win a $150 American Express Simon gift card. Shoppers are also encouraged to listen to radio station 100.7 WLEV for a secret Black Friday phrase so they can repeat it at the WLEV booth for a chance to win Visa Simon gift cards and additional prizes from Lehigh Valley Mall stores.

Oxford Valley Mall is catering to the early crowd with its Receipts to Rewards Giveaway. The first 100 shoppers to present a same-day receipt worth $100 or more to guest service win a $10 American Express gift card. For those who are social media savvy, Oxford Valley Mall will update its Twitter and Facebook every half hour with the latest deals. Finally, the mall will offer a rejuvenation station where shoppers can relax and unwind and receive vouchers for snacks and Coke Zero.

Those planning on coming to Quaker Bridge Mall are encouraged to enter the mall by The Cheesecake Factory. The first 200 people who enter at this point will receive a special Black Friday goodie bag starting at 4 a.m. All bags will include a $5 gift card to The Cheesecake Factory.

At Montgomery Mall, the first 100 shoppers to turn out should visit guest services to receive a Black Friday survival bag. The mall will also have rejuvenation station with areas to charge cell phones so shoppers can continue to search out the best deals while on the go. Shoppers will want to come to the mall with a full charge in order to participate in the text-to-win $10,000 shopping spree and a mobile instant winner scratch off game.

The Sports Cave has opened a temporary store at the Voorhees Town Center for the holiday season. Sports enthusiasts should check out the new cave along with the Philadelphia location and take advantage of the (Eye) Black Friday promotion of 25% off everything excluding tickets and special events. Promotion is valid through Cyber Monday.
