KAYDEN’S FAMILY HEADS TO HARRISBURG FOR CHANGE
Governor Tom Wolf Meets Kayden’s Family Face to Face; Press Conference to Follow
Who: Kayden’s parents and five family members meet Governor Tom Wolf at 12:30 pm in the State Capitol. Kayden’s mom, Kathy Sherlock will be speaking after the meeting in a brief press conference.
What: The family is asking the Governor to review Judge Jeffrey Trauger’s decision which allowed Kayden’s biological father to have unsupervised visits with her. Moreover, the family wants #KaydensLaw implemented, and will be reviewing top bullet points they want accomplished with legislature to enforce this law in coming months.
“We believe this tragedy could have been prevented. The Judge ordered us to pay thousands of dollars for a court appointed psychologist, yet failed to heed the advisement of this expert. We, as a family, believe no child should have unsupervised visits when a parent has a violent criminal history. There needs to be a checks and balances system in place to better protect our children.”
When: Friday, September 7, 2018, at 1:30 p.m.
Where: Back of the Capitol steps
Why: We are in #KaydensKorner. Kayden was a beautiful little girl who loved unicorns, excelled at sports, created her own make-up instructional videos, danced, sang, and loved life.
Sadly, she will never grow to realize her full potential; instead she died at the hands of a person who should have cared for her the most – her biological father.
In October 2016, Bucks County Common Pleas Court Judge Jeffrey G. Trauger had entered an interim order granting the girl’s mother primary custody and the biological father weekend visitation rights, records show.
In a May 2018 decision, Trauger reaffirmed primary custody for Kayden’s mother — who lives with her husband and two young sons in Lower Bucks County.
The order further noted that Kayden personally witnessed her father’s violent behavior when he was frustrated or angry. It also recounted the father’s assault conviction for biting off part of a man’s ear at a South Philadelphia bar in 2012. Furthermore, it stated he “was violent to her (Kathy) when they were together,” and his abusive interaction with Kayden’s teacher and principal at her Lower Makefield Township School.
HOWEVER, Judge Trauger failed to heed the advisement of expert testimony. Despite a state psychiatrist’s conclusion that the father was narcissistic, sociopathic, suicidal and suffered from major depression and should NOT be granted unsupervised visitation, contingent of receiving counseling, he still allowed a historically VIOLENT man to have un-monitored visits even after the child expressed fear.
