Serial Entrepreneur Creates A Better Path for Entrepreneurs to Succeed

A first of its kind pop-up shop drives economic growth and innovation for startups

PHILADELPHIA, PA – September 28, 2016 – One thousand businesses will be ignited for free this October at an event that kicks off in Philadelphia, and scales to 10 other cities nationwide impacting just as many businesses in those markets too. The mission is called Jumpstart StartUp and aims to drive an economic and innovation movement for entrepreneurs who don’t know where to turn for help with starting or growing a business. The idea started by CEO Jen Groover and pop-up store pioneer, 22-year retail veteran as the the CEO of Halloween Adventures and current President of JBC & Associates, Joe Purifico is combining the success of pop-ups, and entrepreneurship to innovate business, and job creation. The idea is also backed by the City of Philadelphia as an economic development strategy to help people simplify the process of starting a new company, or upgrading their existing services.

Serial entrepreneur, author, international speaker, and CEO Jen Groover is a top business and lifestyle contributor, and content creator for major networks like ABC, CBS, CNBC, NBC, MSNBC, Fox News, Fox Business New, and the CW. “My goal is to impact each city we create a pop-up in as well as team up with Mayor offices in each city to utilize their reach, influence, and resources including their economic development centers. Partnering with local universities that offer entrepreneurship programs, and have innovation centers and corporations who understand the importance of supporting small business growth will further drive the cause to assist idea lovers nationwide to turn their dream into a reality. In all my years of being an entrepreneur, and teaching entrepreneurship worldwide, I have witnessed so many great ideas die because people are paralyzed in fear, and overwhelmed with choices instead of being empowered by understanding a more simplified process. I wanted to innovate, and be part of that solution because I understand those feelings firsthand,” said Groover.

“The skills and tools needed to launch a successful business should be accessible to everyone,” said Mayor Jim Kenney. “The City of Philadelphia is proud to be the launch city for the Jumpstart StartUp program, which is helping to get important assets into the hands of future entrepreneurs here and across the country.”

Some of the chosen sponsors include TD Bank, Comcast Business, JBC & Associates, Alcom, BrinkerSimpson, Benjamins Desk, MSC Retail and more.  “The companies that support this program should be applauded for understanding the long-term powerful impact it can have on a brand when you invest in small businesses in your community and nationwide. As the small business owner grows, they never forget who helped them along the way, and become a loyal customer.  This isn’t just an event, it’s a movement,” said Groover.

The pop-up shop is located at the former location of Puma at 1505 Walnut Street, and will be open on October 25-29 from Tues: 8am-6pm. Wed-Thu: 10am-8pm. Fri: 8am-6pm. Sat: 10am-6pm

If you or someone you know is a start-up, or interested in starting a business, please go to JumpStartStartUp.com. The first 1000 people/businesses through the door will benefit. The event is free, and open to the public.
