Suede Salon and Spa Raises Funds for Autism Awareness Month

MARLTON, NJ – March 7, 2019– In light of Autism Awareness Month, Suede Salon and Spa will be hosting a special night of glamour to raise funds and awareness for a variety of Autism programs and initiatives in our region. On Monday, April 8, 2019, from 2:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., guests can enjoy salon services, local vendors, and a Chinese Auction. 11-years ago, Suede Salon and Spa launched an effort to promote autism awareness, inclusion, and self-determination for all, and to assure that those on the Spectrum are provided the opportunity to achieve the highest possible quality of life.

According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, about 1 in 59 children have been identified with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Autism does not discriminate, it can occur in any socioeconomic, racial, or ethnic group. “Children and adults on the spectrum often face different social struggles. In school, students on the spectrum often need more intervention and support at times, and it can be difficult to blend in with peers.” says Kim Carusillo, Owner of Suede Salon and Spa. “My daughter is on the spectrum, and like any mother I want her to experience what her peers do. Through this Autism Awareness event, we are able to raise funds for social groups, and prom nights so kids don’t have to feel left out. This makes them so happy to feel included, and it also makes parents feel great to see their child thrive.”

A portion of the proceeds raised from the services will benefit local organizations such as, Lenape Regional High School Autism/MD Program Prom Night, and TLC School Ministry at Saint Joan of Arc, and SNAP Social Group, which benefit adults with disabilities. In Addition, all proceeds from the Chinese Auction will benefit Autism Speaks, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting solutions, across the spectrum and throughout the lifespan, for the needs of individuals with autism and their families through advocacy and support.
