DETAILS: The Philadelphia Marathon Weekend Partners are coming together tomorrow, Thursday, September 19th, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. to leave their marks on the Philadelphia Marathon Weekend mural. The partners attending include American Association of Cancer Research, Dietz & Watson, Rothman Orthopaedics, Dunkin’, ACME, Michelob ULTRA, Garmin, DICK’S, Geico, Comcast Sustainability and Comcast Business. The mural was created by a Philly-based “fine-art muralist,” named Kala Hagopian. Kala established Hagopian Arts back in 2015 and they have worked with several educational and community outreach programs including The Philadelphia Mural Arts Program. After competing in the Mural Arts Philadelphia Contest with seven other competing artists, her concept was chosen at the 2018 Philadelphia Marathon Expo to produce a mural for the 25th Anniversary of the Philadelphia Marathon Weekend.
The mural includes multiple well-known Philadelphian landmarks that runners will pass along the marathon route. The dedication of the mural will be selected sometime in October, and it will be installed at 3901 Main Street in Manayunk, just after the 21st-mile marker along the Marathon route. More details to come. If you are interested in featuring the mural, or to interview the artist tomorrow please email Jennifer Sherlock at jsherlock@jennacommunications.com.
