Events – Go from Ordinary to Extraordinary with 3 Tips
When thinking of public relations, the phrases/words that are thought of are press releases, image recovery, clients, and other office/professional related tasks. Another aspect of communications that could allow one to network with others, personally and professionally is events. As I was reading from a school textbook, “Events Management: An International Approach,” there were three points listed that were very important in making an event that is exciting, memorable, and possibly marketable in public relations.
Consider stimulating the 5 senses.
When one goes to an event and the majority of their senses are stimulated positively, the event usually turns out great. The chances of disliking an event at a classy venue, serving tasty food, good music, and a great time are slim to none.
2. Make experience enhancing moments such as creating memorable experiences or creating unique happenings.
As we all have enjoyed a night out, it is becoming harder to go to an event that is very different from the rest. This why it’s important to try to make certain elements of an event a memorable experience. Here at Jenna Communications, we are always trying to incorporate a memorable factor in the events that are planned. From having a Goldtex Open House Rooftop party to promoting events for Hair O’ the Dog is a great example to show how events work best when they have unique or memorable qualities.
3. Transcend from the ordinary to the extraordinary.
The only thing that’s better than having a nice event is having an extraordinary event. For my 23rd birthday I went to The Pool in Atlantic City at Harrah’s Resort, which is an area to relax by day and a club by night, which is then called The Pool After Dark. Not only is it a club but in the middle there’s a heated pool, with canopies equipped with TV’s surrounding it. There were also two bar areas, room to dance, and booths to sit at. The venue alone is a perfect example of making the idea of an ordinary night club extraordinary by changing a relaxing day area to a great night club.
