LOCAL CHARITY PROVIDES MEMORABLE EVENING FOR TEEN WITH CANCER
-Evening at Medieval Times serves as event for Casey Cares member-
WHO: Casey Cares Foundation, a non-profit charity that provides uplifting and ongoing programs with a special touch to critically ill children and their families throughout the Mid-Atlantic area, will provide a memorable evening for a young girl with cancer. 11-year-old Alyssa was diagnosed with cancer at 22 months. After the cancer treatment her kidneys failed and she was put on dialysis for almost two years. She had a kidney transplant in September of 2008. After the kidney transplant Alyssa had issues with her blood and needed two blood transfusions a day for two years. In addition Alyssa has been through a total of five rounds of chemo, full body and localized irradiation and two stem cell transplants.
WHAT: Casey Cares has arranged a special event for Alyssa who suffers from neuroblastoma and is currently treated for this at CHOP. Alyssa and her family will be treated to a fun night at Medieval Times including a meal, performance, and photos with the performers.

WHY: Casey Cares Foundation offers special events that bring smiles and lift the spirits of critically ill children and their families. They send us on mini vacations that give Alyssa great memories and take her mind off of her problems. They have sent us on day trips that make Alyssa forget about her problems. They are always there to help. It is very important for her to smile and have great memories that make her smile. Memories are an important part of anybody’s life and Casey Cares foundation makes that happen.”
