Love is Found in the Most Unexpected Places

Most people look for love in the most obvious places, but how often do people search for their soul mates at the mall? It seems as if love creeps up on people when they least expect it. That is exactly what happened to two local couples at Quaker Bridge Mall.

In 1988, Steve Parrino was working at Quaker Bridge Mall’s Cohen’s Optical, near where Aeropostale is located now. Meanwhile his soulmate-to-be was working at Uncle Wally’s, which was located a few stores away from the AMC movie theatre at the time. Janine would serve Steve food on his breaks at Uncle Wally’s. That’s where their love sparked and two years later they found themselves walking down the aisle. Steve, now 55 and Janine, 54 are happily married 23 years!

Another local couple that got hitched thanks to Quaker Bridge Mall is Jude and Art Cianfano. Their story begins in 1984. Jude, who was on her way to apply for a job at Famous Cookies caught a glimpse of Art on an escalator and remarked to her friend who was with her at the time, “I am going to marry that guy.”

Once Famous Cookies hired Jude, she soon found out that Art worked at Hot Sam’s Pretzels. Jude bought more pretzels than she ever had in her entire life just to see Art, and her plan worked. After meeting Art, they began dating at age 17, and their relationship continued to remain strong. Jude and Art got engaged in 1991 and were married in 1993, just before Art was deployed in the Navy.

Both of these local couples are available for interviews at your request. Please email Jennifer Sherlock at jsherlock@jennacommunications.com or call 609-369-3482 if you are interested in doing a Valentine’s Day story on them.
