We are grateful to the Minoso family for the support to Chicago White Sox Charities and know that the auction will help his legacy of helping others to live on.”
JUST ADDED INTO THE AUCTION: THE JEROME HOLTZMAN COLLECTION: Personal collection of legendary Hall of Fame sportswriter Jerome Holtzman. Born and raised in Chicago, Holtzman’s legacy spanned over 50 years starting as a copy boy with the Chicago Daily News in 1943. Widely regarded as one of America’s foremost baseball writers it was said of him by Southern Humorist Lews Grizzard, “He never smiled, but he had the keys to Cooperstown. No major leaguer ever got into the Hall of Fame if Holtzman didn’t want him there.” The Holtzman Collection features hundreds of vintage World Series and All-Star Game press pins, correspondence, books, paper items, and general ephemera relating to his Hall of Fame career as a baseball scribe.
