Please give a warm welcome to our newest team members. We’re excited to have Chantell Thornton (top left), Sarah Gawricki, (top middle), Caleb Joyce (top right), Emily Grabowski (bottom left) and Linda Hanford (bottom right) as a part of Jenna Communications. Take a moment to say hello to everyone at one of our next events.

Event Recaps:

On Tuesday, May 6, members of the Jenna Communications team came out during Stroke Alert Day to promote Strides for Stroke to the Fairmount Running Club at their Art Museum Steps workout. Thank you to everyone who signed up for Strides for Stroke! We look forward to seeing you on June 8!

We started a new event series for the Delaware Valley Stroke Council: Stretch for Stroke. This weekly yoga event, held outdoors at the corner of 20th Street and Benjamin Franklin Pkwy, helps raise awareness for stroke. Did you know those with high levels of stress and anxiety are at a greater risk for stroke? Come out Wednesday night at 6 p.m. to join us and relax! Afterwards, we’ll head to Public House for a special happy hour with free drinks and discounted menu items.

Upcoming Events:

For the third year in a row, Jenna Communications is hard at work planning the Delaware Valley Stroke Council’s 20th annual Strides for Stroke 5k on Sunday, June 8. We’re working to make this the biggest Strides for Stroke yet, and have many exciting events planned leading up to race day. Stay tuned for announcements for pre-race parties the week of June 2 by connecting with the Delaware Valley Stroke Council on Facebook and Twitter. Watch this segment of All Hart with Lauren Hart on WMCN-44 to see Toby Mazer, founder of the Delaware Valley Stroke Council, promoting Strides for Stroke, and listen to the KYW Morning Drive tomorrow, where Toby will be featured on Brad Segall’s Suburban Bureau segment.

Volunteers also are still needed for Strides for Stroke to help with logistics, fundraising, donation requests, stuffing goodie bags, registration and refreshments. We are looking for local businesses to serve as sponsors for the race, as well as to donate food items for the runners, and to encourage their employees to run! If you’d like to volunteer or sponsor this event, contact Jen at jsherlock@jennacommunications.com. To sign up for the race or for more information visit www.phillystroke.org. Don’t forget stroke is the number one cause of adult disability as well as the fourth leading cause of death. By participating, you can help the Delaware Valley Stroke Council continue its stroke prevention efforts.

On Saturday, June 7, the critically acclaimed ROC (Ridiculous Obstacle Challenge) Race is coming to Philadelphia. This race is anything but your standard 5K! Along with running, participants have to conquer slides, balance beams and even the infamous wrecking ball. And the fun doesn’t stop there – racers come out in all sorts of amazing costumes. More importantly, proceeds from ROC Race benefit the Challenged Athletes Foundation. There’s still time to register HERE for ROC Race Philadelphia, and if you use code JENNA you will get $5 off.

We have plenty of opportunities for you to get fit over the coming weeks. Here’s another great event from Britney Harmon, our yoga instructor for Stretch for Stroke. On Saturday, June 14, Britney will lead RUN AND YOGA. Come experience the benefit of yoga for runners firsthand. Britney will lead runners from Dhyana Yoga – Old City, across the Ben Franklin Bridge and back (about 3 miles). Immediately following the run, she will teach a one hour yoga class, focusing on balancing your body with hip openers, core strengthening exercises, and overall stretching and strengthening work. If you’re interested in participating, join the event on Facebook to get all the details.

If you love yoga, and want to continue stretching for a good cause, consider joining the Longest Day, a day-long Yogathon hosted by the Alzheimer’s Association which raises awareness for this debilitating disease. Yoga studios across the country are participating, and you can find out where to join the event by visiting this website. There are plenty of available teams to join, and if you register by June 11, you can even start your own team in honor of a loved one or friend.

Agency & Client Updates:

Since opening in March, Doctors Express Narberth has seen a sharp increase in patients coming through its doors. The urgent care center’s convenient location at 934 Montgomery Ave. has helped it gain visibility in the Narberth community, as well as the fact that wait times average 20 minutes and no appointments are needed. Doctors on staff deliver a high level of quality care, as seen in one of the center’s very first patient testimonials.

The long stretch of nice weather we’ve been having has allowed construction to get well underway for Lifestyle Healthcare Group’s comprehensive medical care center. When the facility is completed in late 2015 or early 2016, it will consist of nearly 200,000 sq. ft. of space and house dozens of medical specialists, an outpatient surgical center and a rehab/fitness complex. See this story from the Bucks County Courier Times, and stay tuned for more developments on the progress of the center.

No Dog Gets Left Behind has raised enough funds to bring another dog home. Meet TIC (pictured below), who landed in Texas last week, where he will live with his soldier, PFC Josh. TIC may be a little guy now, but he could grow up to be as much as 140 lbs.! In addition to TIC returning, No Dog Gets Left Behind raised $1,500 at the South 9th Street Italian Market Festival to put towards another homecoming. Catch the latest news from No Dog Gets Left Behind by liking them on Facebook and following on Twitter and Instagram. Don’t forget to check out their tanks, on sale now and perfect to wear for the summer months.

PR Tip of the Month:

For our May PR Tip, we put together a Jenna Communications mobile studio and filmed onsite at our friend, Level 1 Fitness, after Stretch for Stroke. We’d like to thank them for allowing us to use their space in Old City. Next month, we’ll be back at home base, and you’ll see us once again in crystal clear HD!
