Stay Fit Philly Challenge
Philly RACES Sponsors a Stay Fit Philly Challenge to Encourage People to Stay Active During the Month of November amidst COVID-19
Philadelphia, PA (September 23, 2020) – The Stay Fit Philly Challenge is an online 30 day challenge sponsored by Philly RACES that encourages participants to stay active for 15-30 minutes per day during the month of November. Participants can engage in activities such as running, walking, swimming, biking, yoga, or walking the dog. Daily challenge videos will be posted on https://www.phillyraces.org/
Not only will the Stay Fit Philly Challenge motivate people to stay active during the pandemic, but it will also give people a chance to donate to a worthwhile cause. A portion of participants’ registration fees will be donated to the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR). By registering for the Stay Fit Philly Challenge, your donation will help propel the next wave of discoveries to benefit cancer patients and their families everywhere.
Running legends Meb Keflezighi and Bart Yasso have officially joined the Stay Fit Philly Challenge, and they will be participating alongside you all month long! When asked for advice about staying fit during the pandemic, Keflezighi preaches “You know, challenging moments, we can never predict when they come up, but when they come up you have to be flexible and take the challenge and do the best that you can day to day.” The Stay Fit Philly Challenge presents a flexible solution to people who still want to stay active amidst COVID-19.
Registration for Stay Fit Philly is now open. The challenge begins November 1st and ends November 30th, but participants may log activities at their convenience. Participants are guaranteed a medal as a token of their dedication to staying fit, as long as they register by November 15th.
Beginning November 1st, you can login to runsignup.com to start the challenge. Go to the Results page and click “SUBMIT VIRTUAL EVENTS.” Select the current day or the day for which you are entering the activity. Enter the activities completed for that day in a second box that says “Activities,” and then click “Submit.”
A choice of a long sleeve t-shirt or lightweight long sleeve t-shirt hoodie (unisex), sharable weekly milestone badges for social media bragging rights, a printable finisher’s certificate, and a unique Stay Fit Philly Challenge finisher’s medal are included in registering for the Stay Fit Philly Challenge.

About Philly RACES: Philly RACES is a nonprofit organization that supports a series of running events in Philadelphia. It was established to support and improve the health and wellness of the city, to introduce youth and adults to its vast and beautiful parks, and to build running programs across a variety of skill levels. Philly RACES events are produced or supported by the City of Philadelphia’s Managing Director’s Office and the Department of Parks & Recreation. The two anchor events in the running series are the Blue Cross Broad Street Run 10 Miler and the Philadelphia Marathon Weekend, which includes the AACR Philadelphia Marathon, the Dietz & Watson Half-Marathon and the Rothman Orthopedics 8K. The running series consists of shorter distance runs/walks throughout various parks in the Philadelphia Parks & Recreation system, along with new virtual races that will take place all year long! In person races engage neighborhood residents, the larger community and help raise funds for various causes. Virtual events give those unable to be with us a way to participate in fun events regardless of where they are in the world.
