Suede Salon and Spa Raises Funds for Autism Awareness Month

MARLTON, NJ – April 4, 2018– In light of Autism Awareness Month, Suede Salon and Spa will be hosting a special night of glamour to raise funds and awareness for a variety of Autism programs and initiatives in our region. On Monday, April 23, 2018, from 2:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m., guests can enjoy salon services, local vendors, and a Chinese Auction. 10-years ago, Suede Salon and Spa launched an effort to promote autism awareness, inclusion, and self-determination for all, and to assure that those on the Spectrum are provided the opportunity to achieve the highest possible quality of life.

According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, about 1 in 68 children have been identified with Autism Spectrum Disorder. “This event is near and dear to us as I have a daughter on the spectrum. Throughout her years in the public school system it was evident that kids who suffer from any disability do not have access to the same social activities as those of their typical peers,” said Kim Carusillo, Owner of Suede Salon and Spa. “This is why we choose to help by donating to the causes like social groups and a prom night for those with disabilities. They have a great time together and a lot of fun. I’ve witnessed what these activities do for their self-esteem and confidence. The smiles and happiness it brings them, as well as their parents, is priceless. After all, every parent wants their child to be happy – no matter what their limits are.”

A portion of the proceeds raised from the services will benefit local organizations such as, Lenape Regional High School Autism/MD Program Prom Night, and TLC School Ministry at Saint Joan of Arc, and SNAP Social Group, which both benefit adults with disabilities. In Addition, all proceeds from the Chinese Auction will benefit Autism Speaks, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting solutions, across the spectrum and throughout the lifespan, for the needs of individuals with autism and their families through advocacy and support. This year, Suede Salon and Spa has also added an additional two hours to the event, in order to go beyond promoting autism awareness to encouraging friends and other local businesses to become partners in the movement toward acceptance and appreciation.
