Upper Salford Township has a bridge to sell you! No, really!

“Bids are being accepted NOW, and only 6 days are left to buy this antique bridge.”

UPPER SALFORD TOWNSHIP, PA, November 4, 2010 — municibid.com, the online government auctions website that is free for government and open to the public is being used by Upper Salford Township who is auctioning off a bridge starting at $100!  The heavy-duty wooden railroad trestle bridge is currently located on Salford Station Road in Upper Salford, PA, but once bought can be transferred anywhere.  The successful bidder will be awarded at the regularly scheduled township supervisors meeting next Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at 7:30pm at the Upper Salford Township Building.

“This bridge is one of the more unique surplus items we have had on the site recently.  That, and several parcels of land up for auction in Haverhill, Massachusetts,” said Greg Berry, Founder & CEO of municibid. “These unique items always generate increased activity on the website which allows us to help government agencies with selling their surplus for a lot more money,” added Berry.

The bridge was built by the Reading Railroad Company and previously went over the Perkiomen Branch Line of the Reading Railroad.

The lucky buyer of the bridge will need to provide a certificate of insurance and accept all responsibility for the removal of the bridge from its existing location and all clean up associated with that removal.  The successful bidder shall provide a Performance Bond for 100% of the total bid within 15 days of the bid award.  Removal of the bridge must take place prior to February 28, 2011.

The bridge is available for inspection.  Contact the Upper Salford Township office at 610-287-6160 for additional information or for viewing.   Questions can also be e-mailed toslr.upsaltwp@comcast.net. The Township reserves the right to accept or reject any and all offers.
