Wharton SBDC Instructor Hosts an Express-Business Workshop for Hungry Entrepreneurs
Philadelphia, PA – December 29, 2017 – University of Pennsylvania’s, Wharton Small Business Development Center Instructor, John McAdam is excited to announce an express-business workshop geared towards entrepreneurs. Start Your Business in 90 Minutes is a workshop designed to educate and assist aspiring business owners and entrepreneurs the ins-and-outs of starting their own business immediately. As a motivated, business-pioneer, John McAdam will create 50 new businesses, and provide the resources necessary to succeed. On January 18, 2018, from 10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. (9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. for networking) at 1776 Powelton Avenue, McAdam alongside premier local legal, tax, and marketing experts will present testimonials and offer professional advice on how to start and become a successful business owner.
Start Your Business in 90 Minutes will demonstrate to attendees the incorporation options that are immediately available to them, and provide knowledge of discounted resources that can be used throughout the formation and growth of their business. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, in 2015 there were more than 675,000 new establishments created by entrepreneurs. In Philadelphia alone, 22,298 new establishments were created between 2014-2015. The workshop will provide vast knowledge from those who have been through the process, and are familiar with the legal and tax ramifications that creating and executing a business entails.
John McAdam holds an MBA from Wharton School of Business where he has been teaching strategic business planning for several years. He also holds several years of business experience as a hired CEO, serial entrepreneur and instructor. He is the author of The One Hour Business Plan (Wiley) and understands the effort of business planning and implementation. In this workshop, McAdam will use his experience and knowledge to present ideas on referral marketing and new business initiatives to enable attendees to succeed after startup.
The panel of experts who will work alongside McAdam will provide insight from different industries and share steps each of them took on becoming successful in the workplace. Thomas Bark, a corporate attorney with over 25 years of experience will share information on incorporation options and rationale. Peter Cordua, Senior Director at HBK CPAs and Consultants, will lay out the basic tax issues that occur when choosing a business entity. Jennifer Sherlock, founder of Jenna Communications, a Public Relations firm located in Philadelphia, has been recognized as a woman business owner by Philly’s Business First, and the Women’s Business Enterprise Council. She will share the ins-and-outs of business marketing, such as social media, event planning, and go-to-market strategies to excel your business. Combined with diligence and expertise, the panel of local experts will ensure that attendees understand the dedication and hard-work it takes to be a successful business owner.
