FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CLADDAGH FUND TO GRANT $10,000 TO BUILD JAKE’S PLACE

Dropkick Murphys present check to support accessible playground at Philly Concert

PHILADELPHIA, March 9, 2013 – The Dropkick Murphys’ charitable foundation, The Claddagh Fund, will grant $10,000 to Build Jake’s Place on Saturday, March 8, prior to the band taking the stage at their sold out show at the Electric Factory in Philadelphia.  Media is invited to the check presentation at 5:30 p.m. at The Electric Factory.

The $10,000 donation supports the addition of shade structures at Jake’s Place Boundless Playground, a unique program that offers children of varied abilities—able and those with disabilities to play together in an accessible integrated outdoor play space.  Jake’s Place is proud of the first boundless playground in Cherry Hill, NJ, which was completely funded by donations and built by volunteers.

The funds donated to Build Jake’s Place mark the success of the Claddagh Fund’s Philadelphia Chapter and are the result of the over one million dollars raised since the foundation’s inception in 2009.  “The ability to help local children and give them all a place to play together is an important part of the mission of the Claddagh Fund and having kids of my own, means something to me and our board and supporters,” said charity founder and band front man, Ken Casey. “We have the most generous fans and friends in the world.  Together, by raising funds to support worthy charities, we can all witness the wonderful effect we can have on people’s lives when we all do our part to help.”

Accepting the $10,000 donation on behalf of Build Jake’s Place is Jake’s Place Board Member and the organization’s late namesake, Jake’s grandmother, Lynn Cummings.  “The generous gift made by The Claddagh Fund will help thousands of kids, both those with a disability and those without, to play together and better enjoy our state of the art playground.  The good people of the Claddagh Fund have made an investment in fun for every child, of every ability. Nothing will ever replace our grandson Jake, but the smiling, laughing, squealing sounds of children having fun is the best possible way to remember him.  The family and Board of Build Jake’s Place are deeply grateful to the Board and donors of the Claddagh Fund.”

Media is invited and welcomed to attend the Claddagh Fund check presentation at The Electric Factory 421 N. 7th Street, Philadelphia, PA.
