N.J. ARMY NATIONAL GUARD SPECIALIST AND NORTH ARLINGTON GRADUATE TO PLAY ARENA FOOTBALL ALONGSIDE FELLOW VETERANS
–Veterans prepare for arena football rivalry as part of The Philadelphia Soul’s Military Appreciation Night–
NORTH ARLINGTON, N.J., June 12, 2013 – Specialist Louis Iasparri, N.J. Army National Guard and North Arlington High School alumnus, will represent the Army Veterans team when he plays arena football in the inaugural Army Veterans vs. Navy Veterans Arena Football Game on June 22 at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia.
The game is part of the Philadelphia Soul’s and Judge VIP (Veterans in Professional) Careers’ Military Appreciation Night that will include a veterans Speed Career Networking Event exclusively for transitioning military service members, wounded warriors, veterans and military spouses from 1:30 – 4:30 p.m. prior to the evening’s events.
Minority owner of the Philadelphia Soul and CEO of The Judge Group Martin E. Judge, Jr., said the mission of the hiring event is to find employment for veterans.
Afterwards, the evening will celebrate our heroes through the American pastime of football – arena style.
Iasparri, who currently attends Richard Stockton College, is putting aside the books to get fitted to represent the Army Veterans. His football background includes playing for the North Arlington High School Vikings. However, by 2011, he was training in a different role with the U.S. Army National Guard. Iasparri completed boot camp at Ft. Benning, Ga. and was recently promoted to specialist with the 2nd Battalion, 113th Infantry unit located in Jersey City, N.J. This mechanized infantry battalion traces its lineage back to the Revolutionary War.
Iasparri and his team of Army Veterans will face a Navy Veterans squad which includes former college football quarterback for the United States Naval Academy Lt. Ricky Dobbs; former Naval Academy kicker and Captain Frank Schenk; former wide receiver Lt. j.g. Tyree Barnes; former defensive end Ensign Jabaree Tuani, and three of the six Person brothers, two who played football for Navy, including record holder Andy Person.
