“Night at the Fights” to be Hosted by Dropkick Murphys and The Claddagh Fund

– Boxing takes center stage in Philadelphia for an urgent cause

WHO:? Dropkick Murphys and The Claddagh Fund in a partnership with Guardian Restoration, A – Plus Public Adjusters, Green Blood Boxing and Dibella Entertainment

WHAT: The band and its charity will together host A Night at the Fights to benefit Hero Thrill Show, Inc, which raises funds to pay for the college education of children whose parents have been killed in the line of duty as Philadelphia police officers or firefighters. The event will feature an acoustic set by the Dropkick Murphys and six professional bouts which will showcase some of boxing’s most promising prospects.

WHEN: Saturday, October 12, 2013 at 7:00 p.m.

WHERE: The Electric Factory, 421 N. 7th Street, Philadelphia, PA  19123

WHY: Join us for a night of great fights, music and friendship and help bring boxing back into the spotlight in Philadelphia. The evening’s main event will be two-time National Amateur Champion & 2008 Olympian Danny “Bhoy” O’Connor (23-1) vs. Former World Champion “Vicious” Vivian Harris (30-9-1).  The event will also feature three of Ireland’s best young boxers: the undefeated, West Belfast bred and Philadelphia-based fighters include 2012 Irish Prospect of the Year Anthony “Anto” Cacace (7-0) who is the Former Irish Super-Featherweight Champion; Junior Welterweight and Former Child Acting Star Tyrone McKenna (1-0), and Super-Middleweight “Irish Sugar” Ray Ginley (4-0). In addition to an exciting night at the fights, The Dropkick Murphys will play an acoustic set before the main event.

The Claddagh Fund and Green Blood Boxing will also honor two local men who exemplify the Irish Fighting Spirit: Former Boxing Commissioner, philanthropist and litigation lawyer James J. Binns and business manager for Plumbers Union Local 690, John Kane.

Prior to the main event tomorrow,  fans can come out to Xfinity Live this evening at 6:00 p.m. to meet Ken Casey, Danny O’Connor and all of the boxers for the pre-fight weigh-in before tonight’s Flyers game.
