Second Annual High Heel Race Set to Benefit Ovarian Cancer

The 50-yard high heel race announces its July 31, 2011 event details, benefiting the Melanie Finley Ovarian Cancer Foundation

PHILADELPHIA, June 30, 2011— Leave your comfiest running shoes and your athletic apparel at home, this charitable race is all about fashion! Join the Melanie Finley Ovarian Cancer Foundation for the second annual High Heel Race in Avalon, New Jersey for a great cause and fun day of fashion.

The race, promised to be a great time for both runners and spectators alike, is a 50-yard dash on 21st Street between Dune and Ocean Drive in Avalon on Sunday, July 31 starting at 12pm.  Runners are asked to wear high heels three inches or higher, and are divided into heats within the male, female and group categories. First, second and third place winners will receive prizes which include Spirit Airline tickets, hotel stays at Marriott, W Hotel, Sheraton Hotel & Towers, Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa, sporting event tickets, gift certificates and more.

For a small fee of $25, participants can register from 8-10am on the day of the event or can preregister on Wednesday, July 27 from 8-11pm during Ladies Night at The Princeton on 21st Street in Avalon.  Participants will receive a free t-shirt.  There will also be a post-race party at the Whitebrier immediately following the race.  Drink and menu specials will be available from 12-4pm.

Prior to the event, MFOCF and Jenna Communications will be holding a happy hour at Table 31 on Thursday, July 7 from 6-9pm. The event will feature complimentary hors d’oeuvres selected by locally renowned Chef Chris Scarduzio, drink specials and a “Show off Your Heels” contest with prizes from Steve Madden and South Moon Under.  Those interested in participating in the High Heel Run will be able to preregister at the event.
