Sofitel Philadelphia and Reading Art Works Present Paintings by Alfred Ortega

Philadelphia, PA – November 30, 2018 – Sofitel Philadelphia has announced it will host its annual Lobby Art Reception for the unveiling of the newly hung lobby art on Tuesday, December 4, 2018. Featured artist, Alfred Ortega, will have his paintings displayed throughout the Sofitel’s lobby and reception areas. Three times a year, Sofitel Philadelphia pairs with a new local artist to showcase his or her work. Sofitel values its community and wants to display the talents that local artists bring to Philadelphia.

“Community involvement is very important us at the Sofitel. We strive to be part of the community and are always looking for opportunities to give back. Not only do we donate financially to organizations such as Broad Street Ministries and The Attic Youth Center, we have also made the decision to shift an international to a local curator specifically showcasing the incredible artwork of Philadelphia artists.”  said Angela Bauer, General Manager of Sofitel Philadelphia.

Attendees of this event will enjoy a cocktail reception hosted in the lobby of Sofitel Philadelphia from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Guests can sip on a signature cocktail and sample hors d’oeuvres, while admiring the paintings by Alfred Ortega. The signature cocktail of the night will be the “Kensington Coco Old Fashion.” Executive Chef Edward Hancock will be offering food samplings from his seasonal winter menu. The refined tastings will include crab cakes, spring rolls, bouillabaisse spoons, smoked trout, crème brule, and lemon napoleon.

The elegant and aesthetically pleasing event is open to the public for all art-enthusiasts to enjoy. The artist will be in attendance and will be available for conversation during the event.

Ortega says, “I am thrilled at the opportunity to share the work with others by way of the invitation of Curator David Telstar and I am grateful for the welcoming spirit of the gracious executives and staff of the Sofitel Hotel for hosting the exhibit in such a beautiful venue.”

The vibrant paintings bring a pop of color to the sophisticated lobby and reception areas in the hotel. Ortega’s standout pieces coincide with the feel of Philadelphia, in being so colorful and bold.

“I am grateful for the paint and the work. What a wonderful thing paint is, so fluid and gestural, primitive and passionate.” added Ortega.
