Who: The Angel Venture Fair, and Coded by Kids
What: The Angel Venture Fair, a non-profit organization, brings together the largest gathering of Angel Investors and Entrepreneurs in the Mid-Atlantic region. Within the last 20 years, the Angel Venture Fair has showcased over 500 companies, and continues to grow in attendance each year. Over 300 regional Angel Investors join together to listen to 34 Entrepreneurs representing 15 industries from across the country to showcase their ventures. During the fair, the Angel Venture Fair directors will be donating a $10,000 check to Coded by Kids to assist in continuing its mission and core initiatives in the world of tech education.
“With this donation, the Angel Venture Fair is showing its commitment to growing the next generation of diverse tech leaders here in Philadelphia. We’re grateful for their support, which will empower underserved and underrepresented youth to pursue opportunities in tech,” says Sylvester Mobley, Executive Director of Coded by Kids. Coded by Kids is a non-profit organization that builds citywide tech education systems that use project-based learning and mentorship to empower inner-city and unempowered youth to pursue opportunities in technology.
“Coded by Kids is the type of program that will make a long-term difference for kids. Coded by Kids is the reason that these kids will be highly marketable and turn out to be successful entrepreneurs someday,” says Marc Kramer, Executive Director of the Angel Venture Fair. “It’s great that such an accomplished entrepreneur, such as Sylvester has devoted his time to make a difference.”

Why: Coded by Kids provides coding, digital design and computer science education programs to children between the ages of 5 and 18 years old. The programs that are offered expose children to the world of coding and help them gain the real-world tech skills necessary to succeed in the innovation economy. Coded by Kids has an educational philosophy that emphasizes project-based learning and mentorship, enabling students to develop meaningful projects while interacting with experienced industry professionals.
