– One woman fighting cancer to receive special reward package at Philly’s Swankiest Black Tie Affair –

PHILADELPHIA, Pa., Dec. 18, 2012— The Hair O’ The Dog and charity Friends Are By Your Side are currently seeking a woman who is battling cancer and suffering from hair loss as a result. This brave woman will be crowned Queen O’ The Dog at The 19thAnnual Gala being held at The Loews Hotel on Saturday, January 19, 2013.

As Queen O’ The Dog, this woman will receive an exclusive VIP package along with a crowning and special recognition at The Hair O’ The Dog for displaying exceptional perseverance. The package includes tickets to the event, limousine transportation by Luxury Limousine, an elegant gown, a custom suit for her date courtesy of Morroni Fino Toccare Clothier’s, spray tanning courtesy of Julie Dorenbos and Susie Celek of Skin Palette Salon, and a full makeover including a wig or hair extensions by celebrity stylist Martino Cartier of Martino Cartier Salon, founder of charity Friends Are By Your Side.

“After its huge success last year, it made perfect sense to continue The Queen O’ The Dog distinction for a second year at The Hair O’ The Dog,” Martino Cartier said. “The outpouring of support we see for those battling cancer during The Queen O’ The Dog nominations is truly moving, and it is a true honor for us to recognize one woman for her courage while enduring the disease.”

Through his charity, Friends Are By Your Side, which is a consortium of beauty industry leaders, salon owners and hair stylists, Cartier is devoted to helping women and children suffering from hair loss as a result of cancer treatments. The organization helps them maintain control of their appearance while fighting cancer by providing wigs and salon services free of charge. Charity organizers work hard to grant children’s wishes of meeting celebrities, which recently included uniting the late Kiarah “Kiki” Bowley with Justin Beiber days before she lost her battle with an aggressive form of kidney cancer. Friends Are By Your Side also holds a variety of drives and fundraisers to assist patients including a recent toy drive to DuPont Hospital for Children in honor of “Kiki”.
