Two-Time USFL Champion Philadelphia/Baltimore Stars Hold Reunion 

The Philadelphia Stars Reunite for the First Time Since 1987

PHILADELPHIA, PA – May 16, 2017 – The two-time USFL Champion Philadelphia/Baltimore Stars professional football team will reunite for the first time since 1987 on June 10 at 7 p.m. at Chickie’s and Pete’s in South Philadelphia. The Stars were 48-13-1 in their three seasons of existence (1983-85), and with the exception of the Cleveland Browns of the AAFC, hold the best three-year record in the history of professional football.

The Philadelphia Stars were the USFL’s premier football team, coached by Jim Mora for the three consecutive seasons. The Stars appeared in all three USFL championship games and brought two of them home. Many of the Stars players went on to play in the NFL after the USFL folded, all having successful careers. From the players and coaches that were selected to the strong ownership group who were determined to create their own stars.

Players on other USFL teams the Stars dominated in their three-year history included: QB Steve Young, DL Reggie White, RB Herschel Walker, QB Jim Kelly, RB Joe Cribbs, and QB Doug Williams. Other USFL coaches in that era were: Arizona Wranglers George Allen, Chicago Blitz Marv Levy, and Tampa Bay Bandits Steve Spurrier.
