As the digital age continues to grow, people are more attracted to things that are visually appealing, and one big example is video. YouTube is known as the number one source for watching and sharing videos online. Most of our social media apps have incorporated a form of video sharing, all of our television shows have converged to online streaming, and many programs such as Skype, are commonly used to chat with friends and family internationally. Although all of these forms of digital communication were first made as a thought for leisure use, it is clear that the use of said channels has grown in the corporate world as well. What makes this great for public relations is that one can take advantage of the many features of using video streaming, sharing and/or conferencing. Some of the great ways this can help is by:

Building and Maintaining Relationships

Whether one needs to handle a meeting with a client from Skype or interview a potential candidate for a position, using video can help create, maintain and build relationships, which is crucial in public relations.

Using videos to promote  a company and/or clients

This can also work as a great tool to promote a client or your company itself. Here at Jenna Communications, our president, Jennifer Sherlock, posts Youtube videos showcasing a public relations tip every month. We also use social media resources such as Instagram video to promote our clients’ services to the public.

The potential of a mass target reach and gaining new clients

In the public relations world, one of our main goals is to get a certain message out to desired publics and the best way to do that is through the internet. By using Youtube or Instagram video, it can allow a great campaign to not only be spread to the desired audience but also to spread to others who may not have been a target but could still be interested in the company, client or idea.
