PHILADELPHIA, Pa., June 13, 2013 – Six brothers from the Person family, four of whom graduated and played football for the United States Naval Academy, will participate in the Army Veterans vs. Navy Veterans Arena Football Game on June 22 at the Wells Fargo Center.
The game concludes the Philadelphia Soul’s and Judge VIP (Veterans in Professional) Careers’ Military Appreciation Night that will include a veterans Speed Career Networking Event exclusively for transitioning military service members, wounded warriors, veterans and military spouses from 1:30 – 4:30 p.m. prior to the evening’s events.
“Our veterans and active duty military leave it all out on the field every day. I just want to leave it all out there for one day to thank them for their service,” Andy Person said.
Minority owner of the Philadelphia Soul and CEO of The Judge Group, Martin E. Judge, Jr., said the mission of the hiring event is to find employment for veterans.
Nearly 50 employers are expected to attend the networking event, including Subaru of America, TD Bank, UPS, Jacobs Engineering , Walgreens, and Virtua Health Systems.
“I am so proud of Judge VIP Careers for helping these highly trained men and women find civilian careers,” Andy Person said.
Person looks forward to putting on the pads alongside his brothers Fran and Chris, the latter who was a Midshipman that played for the Naval Academy. The remaining Navy Veterans team includes former Naval Academy standouts such as college football quarterback Lt. Ricky Dobbs; former Academy kicker Capt. Frank Schenk; former wide receiver Lt. j.g. Tyree Barnes; and former defensive end Ensign Jabaree Tuani.
A widower and father to five children, Andy Person relishes the rare opportunity for his children to see him play. For Person, who describes himself as a 40-year-old rookie, June 22 will give him a chance to return to the turf in a fast paced competition with a brand new arena football playbook.
