Concerns of Properly Preparing for the Storm are on Top of Many Travelers Minds

Hurricane Irma Continues to Strengthen as it Heads towards U.S. Mainland

Many individuals have planned final vacations of the warm season but with a category 5 hurricane rummaging through the Atlantic, concerns of properly preparing for the storm are on top of many traveler’s minds. In the wake of the most powerful Atlantic storm ever recorded, recent reports state that the tiny Caribbean island of Barbuda is “practically uninhabitable” after it was steamrolled by Hurricane Irma. Irma continued grinding onward towards the Bahamas with packing winds of 180-mph-plus.

As Hurricane Irma rips through Caribbean Islands, leaving destruction in its path, nervous residents of South Florida packed highways seeking safer ground amid forecasts warning that Irma posed an increasing threat to the highly populated area. After the Bahamas, Irma’s expected path takes aim at Florida, affecting 6 million people from Palm Beach to the Miami-Dade, and could make turn towards Georgia and the Carolinas.

Many airlines have waived change fees and allow individuals to rebook flights in a specific time frame and cruise lines are proactively handling concerns but individuals are questioning what to do if you booked your hotel, flight, or cruise line through a travel agent. Bill Rubinsohn of Rubinsohn Travel, based out of Jenkintown, PA has been experiencing an influx of concerns on how to prepare for Hurricane Irma and what individuals need to know if you purchased a hotel, flight, or cruise line through a travel agent. Main concerns lie between travel insurance, flights to safety, and cancellations.

If you are interested in learning more about how Hurricane Irma can affect travel or evacuation plans and would like to speak to a travel expert, please feel free to reach out. Bill Rubinsohn is available for interviews as soon as possible to discuss the best way to prepare in the wake of Hurricane Irma.
