Nominate An Essential Worker to Give Thanks

WHO:          The Philadelphia Marathon Weekend would like to honor all of the healthcare and frontline essential workers during this pandemic.

WHAT:        Nominate an essential worker to be honored by the Philadelphia Marathon Weekend via its social media handles every week.

WHEN:       The nomination period starts at 3 p.m. on May 12th, 2020, and will continue every Tuesday until the end of June.

WHERE:   Nominate someone here: https://www.philadelphiamarathon.com/training/nominate-an-essential-worker/

WHY:  To thank all of the courageous and incredible people who are putting their lives on the line during this pandemic. From healthcare workers to front line essential workers who are on the streets keeping our transportation going, stores open, mail moving, and food flowing. To honor these essential workers from around the world, the Philadelphia Marathon Weekend will feature a runner every Tuesday at 3 p.m. EST who is currently, or was, on the front line fighting against COVID-19.

If you know of a runner who would like to run one of The Philadelphia Marathon Weekend Races events (AACR Philadelphia Marathon, Philadelphia Dietz & Watson Half Marathon, or Rothman 8K, please fill out the form here, telling us WHY this person is deserving and how fighting COVID-19 has impacted their lives.

Each featured runner will receive a complimentary entry into a race of their choice this November, PLUS in-training swag, access to race day VIP tent, as well as, being recognized in a special way over race weekend (details to follow). Should the winner not be able to participate in 2020 we will allow a deferral until 2021.

Entries must be received by Friday of each week to be eligible for the following week.  “We want all essential workers to have the opportunity to be recognized during these times. We aren’t just looking for those in the healthcare field, we want to hear about postal workers, delivery drivers, and employees of pharmacies and grocery stores. This is a chance for all of these hard workers to receive the recognition they deserve.” says Leo Dignam, Executive Director of the Philadephia Marathon.

THANK YOU! Don’t forget to use hashtags #essentialworkers #covid19 #thankyou #PhillyMarathon when posting about your essential worker!
