Dr. Daniel Rubinshtein and ‘Rich the Barber’ Provided Haircuts and Basic Oral Hygiene in Union Square and Made a Positive Impact on One Individual

Who: Dr. Daniel Rubinshtein, a Bensonhurst Dental Cosmetic Dentist, Rich Mendoza, also known as, ‘Rich the Barber’ and Meir Kay, positive content creator came together to pay it forward in Union Square in downtown New York City.  Dr. Daniel Rubinshtein’s desire to help others who are less fortunate has been apparent in his involvement with many charities from oral cancer to feeding the homeless. His time spent on several dental outreaches that served under privileged communities throughout the country, displays his genuine concern for not only the art of dentistry but also the importance of dental health. 

What: Dr. Daniel Rubinshtein set up shop in the heart of Union Square alongside friend Meir Kay, and ‘Rich the Barber’ to provide haircuts and basic oral hygiene to the less fortunate. Dr. Daniel Rubinshtein and ‘Rich the Barber’ knew that through their professions, they had the ability to make a positive difference in the life of another. They approached many homeless men and women surrounding the area offering haircuts and oral hygiene needs, but one young man stood out. After Dr. Daniel Rubinshtein and ‘Rich the Barber’ provided the young man their services, he was treated to new clothes, dinner at Bison Bourbon, and was offered a job on the spot. Dr. Daniel Rubinshtein and ‘Rich the Barber’ did not expect the impact they could make from one small act of kindness.

Why: Dr. Daniel Rubinshtein changed the life of a young girl from a small town in Indiana after awarding her a smile makeover through the Smile Makeover Contest. Ran by Dr. Rubinshtein in 2015, and awarded in 2016, he realized the positive impact a new smile could have on an individual. Dr. Daniel Rubinshtein knew going forward that he wanted to dedicate his time outside of the office and to help others through his profession. In doing so, Dr. Daniel Rubinshstein effectively works to provide hope and positivity to those less fortunate.
